Seven year-old Time For War gelding It'sourtime bagged his fourth stakes victory in Saturday’s Group III Standish Handicap (1200m), continuing his love affair with the Flemington straight course.
Taking to the slipstream of early leader Joyful Fortune, Billy Egan shifted out at the 300 metre mark and, the Danny O'Brien trained galloper sustained a determined finish to beat Aztec Ruler (Universal Ruler) by a head with Joyful Fortune (Nicconi) third.
The win takes his record to seven wins, 11 seconds, and seven thirds from 40 starts with earnings of $1,135,975.
He has won five races down the Flemington straight, including all four stakes victories.
“I was half getting a little frustrated with him getting to the line because he gave me such a good ride,” said Egan.
“The last couple of metres that horse coming on my outside was starting to worry him out of it, and I was like, ‘oh come on you bastard, there’s 20 metres to go just dig deep for me’.”
Passed in short of his $100,000 reserve when consigned by Widden Stud to the 2019 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, It'sourtime is a half-brother to stakes-placed Zahspeed (Speed 'n' Power) and is the best of four winners from six to race for the unraced Zeditave mare Zedoble who died in 2019.
It'sourtime is one of five stakes-winners for Snitzel's dual Group II winner Time For War, who covered two books at Kitchwin Hills, leaving 122 foals before his death.
